Firm Central integration with Westlaw

Discover new ways to boost efficiency and collaboration

Firm Central > Support > Firm Central integration with Westlaw

One of the great aspects of Firm Central is the integration with Westlaw and other Thomson Reuters products. To take advantage of Firm Central integration with Westlaw, begin on your Firm Central homepage with the Westlaw widget:

Start by dragging the widget toward the top of your home screen, so it is visible as soon as you log in. The widget will show your five most recent Westlaw searches or accessed documents, allowing you to quickly jump back into your research where you left off with just one click. You can also run new searches from the search bar and change jurisdictions as necessary, all without having to log in to a separate website.

Another significant time-saving integration with Westlaw is your matter folders. Any folder that you create within a Firm Central matter is automatically available as a save location in Westlaw. Here you can see a sample folder tree created in the "Documents" tab of a matter in Firm Central:

When logged into Westlaw, you can directly save cases, forms, or other documents from Westlaw into these Firm Central folders:

These folders will appear blue, which indicates a shared folder. Firm Central folders are automatically connected to all users that have access to the matter, so anything you save to one from Westlaw can be seen by all members of the matter team on Firm Central. This can help you avoid duplication of research efforts and ensure you can access your documents from anywhere. Since it's saved online, you will always have the most current document version that will reflect any court corrections or changes in KeyCite status.

You can also create a new folder within Westlaw, and it will automatically appear in the matter on Firm Central:

This saves you time and prevents the need to switch between websites/platforms if you haven't yet created a folder in Firm Central. This folder will also automatically be a shared folder, visible and available as a save location to any user who is on the matter in Firm Central.

Start using these features to increase your research efficiency and collaborate more easily with others at your firm.
