Philip F. Zeidman

Mr. Zeidman is a senior partner with DLA Piper's Franchise and Distribution practice, based in Washington, DC. He devotes his practice to domestic franchising law and the rapidly growing field of international distribution, licensing, and franchising law.

He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, New York, Florida and Alabama. Mr. Zeidman received his bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Yale University and bachelor of laws degree from Harvard Law School. He was the first chair of the Committee on Franchising for the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section and the former chair of the International Bar Association's International Franchising Committee.

Mr. Zeidman has spoken on international transactions before business and professional groups in more than 30 countries, as well as before the European Commission and numerous U.S. congressional committees. He also advises several international governmental organizations on franchising as a technique for international development.

In February 2013, the International Franchise Association (IFA) Educational Foundation awarded Philip F. Zeidman the foundation's highest honor, the William Rosenberg Leadership Award. The award is presented annually to “an individual who has made a significant contribution to franchise education and to the IFA Educational Foundation, through research, teaching, fundraising, or other activities or service.”

In addition, Mr. Zeidman has been named “Global Franchise Lawyer of the Year” every year for the last eight years by The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers. In fact, Mr. Zeidman has received more votes from clients and peers than any other individual worldwide.
