William L. Norton, III

Norton is a partner with Bradley, Arant, Boult, Cummings, LLP in Nashville, Tennessee, where he focuses his practice in the business bankruptcy area, dealing in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, creditors’ rights, and insolvency. He is also the Institute manager of national seminars focusing on advanced bankruptcy issues sponsored by Norton Institutes on Bankruptcy Law. He is a member of the AAA Commercial Arbitration Panel, past chair of the ADR Committee for the Nashville Bar Association, and current chair of the board for the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center. He is a certified mediator by Dispute Management and is a Rule 31 mediator in Tennessee. Norton is also the founder, former president, and current board member of the Tennessee Turnaround Management Association and is a past president and current board member of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute.

In addition to being an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt Law School, Norton frequently speaks at seminars on bankruptcy, real property foreclosure, and the Uniform Commercial Code. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a leader on the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the Business Section of the ABA. Norton is also past president and board member of the American Board of Certification, which certifies attorneys who specialize in the areas of creditor rights and bankruptcy law.

Norton has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for more than 10 years for his bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights practice. He is also included in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2006 for bankruptcy and litigation, in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers 2007 for insolvency and restructuring, and in Mid-South Super Lawyers 2007 for bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights. Business Tennessee selected him as one of the “150 Best Lawyers” in its January 2008 issue. He also was listed in the Nashville Business Journal 2006 “Best of the Bar.”
