Firm Central
Practice management that works for your practice and your business

Nolly Law, P.C. Case Study

In this before-and-after story, Dimple Nolly of small firm Nolly Law, P.C., discusses practice management goals and her experience using Firm Central.

"Putting Firm Central in place has been ridiculously seamless."

Managing Director, Nolly Law, P.C.

Dimple Nolly is managing director at Nolly Law, P.C., which provides estate planning and probate services. Her professional experience includes being an Active Duty Judge Advocate General for five years with the United States Air Force where she provided legal assistance to over 2,000 clients on matters related to U.S. and European law including estate planning, family law, landlord-tenant relationships, and business formations.

"I can't imagine doing business any other way," continues Nolly. With small law firms in a continual struggle to balance practicing law with managing and growing a business, legal practice management tools become increasingly important.

The challenge: Find a complete practice management system that was easy to use

Implementing a legal practice management system was on the top of Nolly's to-do list as she opened her own law firm. The practice management systems she had used before were inefficient and inconsistent, especially when it came to organizing matter files. What her new firm needed was a tool that freed her to practice law, while allowing her business to grow and thrive.

"I didn't want something that wasn't organized."

Nolly insisted on a practice management system that was easy to use and install, and gave her the freedom to manage her practice anytime, from anywhere. That's no small order. But she found what she needed in Firm Central.

"I wanted a system that would work for us, not the other way around."

The solution: Firm Central

Firm Central delivered exactly what Nolly and her firm needed to help her more easily manage the business side of her practice, so she could concentrate on practicing law for her clients.

"Firm Central hit every one of our check boxes for what we wanted," said Nolly. That included tools to make managing the business easier; resources to make practicing law more efficient; mobility so she could work anytime from anywhere; reliability; security; easy setup and implementation; and exceptional support.

Nolly was impressed that her Thomson Reuters representative immediately offered to give her a full demonstration of the product so she could understand firsthand what it had to offer. Getting her hands on the system made all the difference when it came time to make the final decision on which system to invest in.

"Even if I didn't commit to Thomson Reuters, you were willing to commit time to really show me the capabilities," she said. "I don't want to put money and time into something unless I know it's going to work for me."

"Firm Central relates to
the business side so I can
actually concentrate on
the practice side of law."

Firm Central. Easy to get started, easy to use

Nolly describes the implementation and training process as "great, it was so easy." That made her comfortable enough to break out on her own to do some self-training. She added that throughout the onboarding process the customer support was "fantastic." At one point, she discovered a particular feature she couldn't figure out that would have taken her several hours to solve on her own.

When she called the Firm Central support number, she received immediate help. "It was really convenient to be able to actually speak to somebody," she said. And the problem was solved in less than five minutes.

"The training was as easy as looking at a calendar and setting up time."

The result: Less stress and more time to focus on practicing law

"The ability to handle our caseload has been simplified," says Nolly. "It's less stressful to take on the amount of clients we need to handle."

Nolly not only has her law practice to run, she has a baby daughter at home and has continued serving in the military. Having a reliable, remote, cloud-based system gave her the freedom to work from anywhere, anytime. "Everything I was doing before, I needed to be in my office to do. I wasn't able to be as flexible or move around as much."

Firm Central has proven to be the practice management system that works best for both Nolly's practice side and her business side. "All I have to do is be the legal advisor," she says.
