Why eDiscovery Point?

Thomson Reuters eDiscovery Point is a cloud-based ediscovery software solution for attorneys. It’s designed to help solo and small law firm attorneys deal with the demands of ediscovery in a way that puts the user in control of time and costs, a refreshing change for the ediscovery process and existing technology. Thomson Reuters released eDiscovery Point last year, and it has already received accolades such as the 2016 “New Product of the Year” from Legaltech© News in its annual innovation awards.

Pricing

“Given that often more than 90 percent of the documents produced in ediscovery have no significance to the case, the pre-review process can result in a considerable savings compared to a billing process that charges for everything you put into the system at the entry level.”

Thomson Reuters bases its pricing structure on volume, and limits that volume to the documents you choose to place in "review."

The eDiscovery Point pricing structure includes not just storage but also the processing of all the documents and their storage in pre-review, the ability to sort out the potentially good stuff from the dreck, the ability to work with the documents in review and Bates-stamp them, and access to the help of the case manager (all of which comes with no additional charge).

You do not pay until documents are moved to review; then you only pay for the data in review, as well as resulting productions. The beauty of this pre-review process is that you can separate the wheat from the chaff and only put the documents that you consider usable into review.

Support and training

“Solid customer support and very capable trainers take whatever time you and your staff require to learn how to use eDiscovery Point efficiently and competently.”

When you start using eDiscovery Point, you will want to take advantage of the training program. With a little practice, you should find the ediscovery process relatively easy. If you need a refresher or encounter a problem, technical support is available 24/7/365.

Thomson Reuters also provides you with a dedicated case manager available to work with you and your staff on all your cases. Your eDiscovery Point case manager will also help you set up ediscovery demands to ensure you ask in the right way for the right things. For those of you relatively inexperienced with ediscovery, this can prove extraordinarily helpful in complying with the “meet and confer” requirements imposed by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and by some state discovery rules.

The conversion process

The process of converting your firm to eDiscovery Point as your primary discovery tool should not take any more time or effort than any other conversion. It has the advantage, however, of integrating so many functionalities for you that, at the end of the day, you should anticipate operating more efficiently going forward.

Conclusion

I have not found any other package that does all the things eDiscovery Point can do for you that I like as much, or that I think of as similarly cost-effective. As a result, eDiscovery Point effectively and economically allows solo and small firms to compete with the larger firms in the ediscovery forum.
