Christopher L.  Ludmer

A founding partner of Kaplan Ludmer LLP, Christopher L. Ludmer focuses his practice on general civil and business litigation, as well as specialized criminal defense, in both state and federal courts. A true trial lawyer, Mr. Ludmer has successfully represented and counseled individuals and companies in a wide variety of matters including federal and state criminal investigations and trials, contract disputes, legal malpractice, insurance disputes, fraud, real property disputes, military courts martial and administrative challenges to government agency action. He has a thriving pro bono practice representing veterans and active duty service members. Mr. Ludmer speaks Japanese and German as well as English, and is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards. Mr. Ludmer received his BA, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Bucknell University and his JD from University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Prior to establishing the law firm of Kaplan Ludmer LLP, Mr. Ludmer was a litigation partner at the San Diego law firm of Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek. Before settling in San Diego, Mr. Ludmer was a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) in the US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps where he was litigation team leader in the General Litigation Division in Washington, DC. While in the Navy, Mr. Ludmer also served as the principal assistant at the Pentagon to the Navy’s senior uniformed lawyer and legal advisor to the Secretary of the Navy. He also served as supervising prosecutor and senior trial counsel for the US Navy Trial Service Office Southeast, where he was first chair in more than fifty jury trials.
