Frederick L. Whitmer

FREDERICK L. WHITMER, a senior litigation partner at the international law firm, Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP, has over thirty years of courtroom experience in courts around the country in which he has tried numerous, substantial cases to successful verdict and appeal. Mr. Whitmer, a trial lawyer who has achieved prominence as a courtroom personality, has broad experience in all aspects of civil litigation, and has combined his love of military strategy with his love of the process of litigation to produce Litigation Is War. In 2000, the National Law Journal named Mr. Whitmer one of the ten top litigators in firms having major offices in New Jersey with a quote, "Mr. Whitmer has appeared before the Supreme Court of New Jersey four times and won all four cases, including one that helped create the law interpreting the New Jersey Business Corporation Act and another, while representing CBS and the New York Times, that established rules for the press in court." He has also been listed for many years in Who's Who in American Law. Mr. Whitmer’s litigation experience includes patents, intellectual property, antitrust, telecommunications, libel, press rights, privacy issues, trade secrets (across a broad range of technologies), as well as theft of ideas. He has tried cases for such clients as AT&T Corp., Ford Motor Company, Volvo Cars of North America, AB Volvo, Hunter-Douglas Corp., Illinois Tool Works, Inc., Shimano Corp., and others. He has supplemented his trial experience with a substantial appellate practice, winning many appeals, representing both appellants and appellees.
